Hi guys, welcome to the Lair today we’ll discover an interesting product the latest MOSFET from GATE, the WARFET I’d like to thank Philippe, from 3-Airsoft, who gave me this product so I could show it to you the Warfet costs around 99€ there are many features on this product so if you want to watch a specific part, use the index in the description but first of all let’s see what you get for 99€ a quick start guide, written in English if you need the full manual, it is available on GATE website here we learn how to plug the WARFET the different features you can set with the programming card here is the WARFET it is a bit larger than a USB flash drive here are the dimensions it weighs 9.
4gramms, so it won’t get in your way notice that there are Dean plugs but don’t worry, it’s not a problem now this is the real new thing the programming card we’ll see later what we can do with this card GATE also provides a pair of Dean plugs it’ll allow you to re-wire one of your replicas if you feel doing it but if you don’t, you’ll find a few adaptors in the box two adaptors to be able to use the WARFET with mini Tamiya-wired guns be cautious about the polarity if you wired your gun the red wire should be soldered to the upper part of the T and of course, the black wire on the leg of the T it is really nice of them to provide these adaptors and those wires are helpful if you want to hardwire the WARFET to your favourite replica it works well in plug&play mode, but hardwiring will offer a couple of extra features so here is what you get in the box the WARFET is weather-resistant, thanks to a military-grade coating please don’t go in the water with it, but if it is dusty or damp, it’ll be fine you can plug your favourite battery on the WARFET, whether it is a NiMh or LiPo battery it can withstand 14.
8V 5000 mAh 60C batteries so it is a tough little guy and of course there’s a LiPo protection, so if the battery is discharged, it’ll prevent shooting it also protect the system from short-circuits up to 1000 amps if you’re like me and you remove the fuse of your replica, the WARFET will protect it GATE announces an idle consumption of 0.
2 mA however, don’t let your battery plugged when you’re not using your gun it’ll deplete your LiPo battery it could damage cells, and it could even burn or explode so after each skirmish, unplug the battery from the WARFET some of you may already know and use GATE products they’ve been in the business for years the big improvement is the programming card you’ll plug it between the WARFET and the battery so you can set all the parameters there’s a pre-cocking which you can set on 3 positions off, trigger or auto pre-cocking will set the piston on its last tooth so when you pull the trigger, reactivity is improved but be aware that it’ll apply more constraint on the gearbox there’s also an active breaking this prevents firing two BBs when using strong batteries as it was the case when I tested the ATM gearbox when in semi-auto, it systematically fired two rounds I’ll talk about smart mode later dark mode will turn the LED on or off, useful when playing at night because otherwise, the LED flashes each time you shoot here you can set the pre-cocking boost meaning that depending on your replica configuration, you can tune the amount of active breaking to reach the ideal setting next is the battery protection settings, well is it relevant to explain it ? notice that there are values for LiFePo 9.
9 and 13.2V batteries NiMh won’t need it then you can adjust the rate of fire let’s say your AEG shoots 30BBs per second if you set 50%, it’ll decrease to 15BB/sec useful for “milsim” players who want to reach the real RoF here you’ll adjust the burst time, as for pre-cocking, it will depend on your configuration there is a 1 to 5 round burst, adjusting this setting will allow you to reach the proper amount of BBs you want to burst then there are two squares, one for stock wiring (plug&play) and one for modified wiring (hard wiring) in P&P mode there’s a choice between semi and auto or semi and burst whereas the hard wiring will add a burst or auto mode smart trigger has been developed by GATE to reach maximum reactivity during the first shot when you’ve set a decreased RoF so it works with RoF control I talked about a 30BB/sec replica let’s say you decrease the RoF by 50% the MOSFET will tell the motor to reduce its speed so you shoot 15BB/sec so it also reduces reactivity the smart trigger setting will prevent that from happening the first round will be shot with a 100% RoF, meaning maximum reactivity and then the next rounds will be shot at 50% RoF GATE say that it works better with 11.
1V batteries and higher and that optimum performance is reached with 3-round bursts there’s also a smart fuse system current, voltage and temperature sensors monitor your gun to prevent short-circuits the MOSFET will mostly be active when hard wiring the system it’ll prevent electric arcing by by-passing the trigger contact there’s also an auto-test on the WARFET I’ve almost forgotten to tell you that the system is compatible with most electronic trigger device I’ll test it right now as I’ve an ASCU and a G&G ETU here so, will it work in addition to an ASCU ? it is a bit silly to use both systems but, well, some people always want more if you spent between 80 and 100€ for an ASCU, you won’t spend another 100 to get a WARFET.
.. I can’t see the point here… so let’s plug the WARFET here this is a 11.1V LiPo the LED turned amber so I think it wont work I’ll wait a few seconds the ASCU didn’t beep so I really believe that it won’t work nothing happens if I only use the ASCU it’s perfect so ASCU plus WARFET, fail ! But the interest was limited now using a WARFET alongside with an ETU is interesting, because there are not many features on an ETU a 3-round burst, battery protection and that’s about it so it’d be nice to add WARFET feats in addition to that let me plug the adaptor, the WARFET and the battery it could be hart to fit all this in a crane, a handguard or under a top cover, keep that in mind before buying a WARFET amber light again, crap ! this won’t work with ETUs either.
.. nothing happens I’ll confirm that it works because I have to send this gun back 🙂 good well, we can’t use the WARFET with ASCUs or ETUs, and I guess with any electronic-controlled gun so let’s go back to something classic V3 gearbox, no electronic device I don’t need adaptors here, I’ve installed a Dean plug does it work? ok when it comes to electric contact, almost everything is better than Tamiya.
.. Dean offer more contact surface, more conductivity so just re-wiring your gun will bring better reactivity, you can feel it well, now I want to use the programming card and all ! replica, WARFET, now the card and then the battery oh ! A Christmas tree ! notice the purple light an addition of the blue and pink of the programming card this is programming mode I’m sorry if you can’t see well on a smartphone or a tablet I’ve got a 27″ screen here.
.. there’s a blue LED here, so you know that all the small LEDS will report to the blue settings when the big LED turns pink, the small LEDs will report to pink squares the first setting is about pre-cocking we talked about that before “trigger” will set your gun so you’ll need to pull the trigger to initiate pre-cocking and then pull again to shoot you understood well, two pulls to shoot one BB “auto” mode will pre-cock your gun after each cycle let’s try auto mode no active-breaking, useless on this gun I won’t need smart trigger I won’t activate dark mode so you can see the WARFET LED I’ll set battery protection on 11.
1V RoF is 100% semi and auto now I have to set the pre-cocking boost, there are 36 settings I’ll try a medium setting there are also 36 positions for burst time let’s see if it works there’s a blue flash, meaning that everything is fine not bad notice the LED here now I’ll try the “trigger” mode it may look boring to program, but it is very quick and way better that trigger-controlled systems if everything goes well.
.. and nothing goes well 🙂 I’ll set dark mode while I’m at it.. and I’ll try 50% RoF and reduce pre-cocking boost first pull, it compressed the spring second pull, instant fire of course you must tune the pre-cocking boost according to your configuration, here it is not optimal because from one gun to another it is not the same spring, the same motor etc.
that’s what pre-cocking boost is for there’s not enough boost here I’ll try to do this properly, otherwise there’s no point in showing this to you I put more boost, quite randomly but once you’ve got the right setting, it’s nice of course it is not something you’ll do on the field, set your WARFET at home way better now as you can see, it is not a good idea to use trigger pre-cocking plus burst control I’ll change a few things back to “auto” mode smart trigger ON I’ll add a bit of boost and increase burst time it is really user-friendly I hope it is sturdy, but there is a 12-month guarantee I’ve got a burst sometimes.
.. once every two trigger actions maybe I should turn pre-cocking OFF to use burst mode no more pre-cocking back to 100% RoF now it’s better ! I thing pre-cocking was not to be used with burst I’ll show you the RoF change wasn’t RoF a rapper ? (indeed, a French one, Rohf) back to 50% semi and auto notice how the WARFET will decrease the motor speed now 100% RoF settings are taken in account right away, no need to wait before unplugging the card nice ! I never use full-auto in game but we never know.
.. I’ll check that the system fits under my top cover I’ll make a video about those batteries from Enery Airsoft, they are good products it fits ! great ! I’m done with this long video about the WARFET GATE have been providing MOSFETS for years, they are always good products the fact that the WARFET has many interesting modes and it can be programmed thanks to a card is really nice thanks a lot again to Philippe at 3-Airsoft, without him this video wouldn’t have been possible I thought that it was interesting to test this new product, because it is quite expensive so I wanted you to see it is it too expensive ? I do not know is it better that an ETU ? well, it is different, it has more settings but the ETU has a micro-switch, so no more arcing, better reactivity is it better than an ASCU ? same answer ! WARFET is interesting if you want a plug&play system that you can use with your different guns there’s no need to strip your gearbox or anything just make sure that it will fit your stock, or handguard or wherever you want to install it especially for mp5-k users.
.. or SR-3M from LCT, AS-val, Vintorez etc. so check before buying don’t hesitate to post your feedback about this product in the video comments did it change your game ? Are you satisfied etc. I’ll see you soon in the Lair xoxo
