Hi everyone welcome to the Lair today we’ll talk about a BB-gun which was issued a few weeks ago a Cybergun product the Colt M4 KeyMod, short version and long version I’ll mostly talk about the long version because I’ve received two of these thanks a lot to Léo and Béa at Cybergun this gun is available in your favourite shop around 265€ and now with every Cybergun replica, you have a 5-year guarantee if you’ve been following me for a while you know that I’ve already reviewed a few Cybergun products long guns and short guns assault rifles were often in a polystyrene box with a cardboard lid those M4s have a nicer box polystyrene is actually inside a cardboard box and two pieces of polystyrene block the gun inside there’s also a plastic wrapping around the lower part of the box nothing can move once we’ve removed the polystyrene chocks, we can see that there’s a black cover inside the box that’s quite classy even if we usually don’t play with the box, it’s nice to see that some efforts have been made when you buy one of those, you only need to think about purchasing BBs because besides the gun which I’ll show you in a moment there’s a complete ready-to-play pack the battery is inside the box it is a 8.
4V NiMh there’s also a battery charger quite basic, you plug it and charge the battery there’s no red nor green LED so you never know when it is fully charged if you’ve got many guns and many batteries, you’ll probably buy a smart charger there’s also a cleaning rod in the box a small hexagonal key to unscrew the rails and not one, but two 350-BB Hi-cap magazines the outer shell is made of metal here you’ll insert BBs and then turn the wheel so BBs can go upward in the mag of course you’ll tell me that I’m never happy but I’d have preferred two 120-BB mid-cap mags it is my opinion this gun is mostly for beginners so hi-caps will allow you to shoot a lot and then when you’ve learned how to play the game you can buy mid-caps or real-caps of course there’s a gun in the box well, it is an M4.
.. it is pretty, if we can say an M4 is pretty… very little plastic on this gun the pistol grip and the stock that’s it the upper and lower receivers are made of aluminium it is not zamac alloy the KeyMod handguard is also made of metal I don’t know if it is aluminium it is CNC-machined this one is the long version, look at the short version here the price is the same a nice feature is that Cybergun included three small rails it is not always the case with KeyMod airsoft guns the Allen key provided with the gun will allow you to move these rails unscrew slightly, push back and then chose where to install the rail the upper part is still a Picatinny rail but this is very comfortable, thinner than a regular handguard you won’t hurt yourself with the rails there’s no need to use rail covers, even if they exist it is smoother than Picatinny rails Cybergun own the Colt licence, so there are markings they’ve been engraved on the lower receiver and there’s a small power sticker telling us this gun shoots 1.
2 joules on the box it is written 351 FPS with 0.20g BBs I’ll test it in the complete review there’s a classic fire selector the different positions are well defined not too hard though on the other side there’s a small notch but it doesn’t move the forward bolt assist here useless on AEGs, but yet it moves, that’s nice a 6-position Crane stock with a rubber butt plate it can be removed to insert the battery there’s space here on the sides also in the buffer tube this is a mini Tamiya plug and there’s also a fuse so prefer using 2-element batteries, there’s not much space inside the tube whatever your morphology is, you should find the appropriate length no position markings on the tube but you can paint them nice feature here, there’s a double sling ring it starts to be mounted on many guns it wasn’t the case before and you had to buy sling rings when it come to choosing between two guns, usually we’ll buy the one with more options but on the other hand, there’s no fake bolt so you might close the dust cover most of the time because it is a bit ugly to see the cylinder here’s the metal-made hop-up unit I’m not supposed to say “hop-up” because it is a “BAXS” system, but whatever according to the box, there’s a reinforced gearbox and steel gears I’ll check that in the full review on the blog the bolt catch doesn’t work, but at least it’s on the gun Cybergun chose to put flip-up removable sights so if you don’t like them, you can switch for your favourite ones you can adjust the height here with the small wheel at the rear, you’ll be able to adjust height and windage aiming is nice and easy because the front sight is really thin not bad but most people will use a red dot sight notice the screws here if you need to strip the gun, you’ll have to remove them and push the pins out most of the time it’ll be to replace the inner barrel and hop-up bucking I still don’t know if it is mandatory, I haven’t shot the gun yet the outer barrel is also made out of metal there’s a classic M4 flash-hider 14mm CCW thread we can see that the inner barrel is long enough that’s good, because some brands, including Marui, put shorter inner barrels most of the time to stay within country power regulations here you’ll enjoy the full length of the barrel gaining range or accuracy depending on the inner barrel you chose let’s insert the magazine very nice there’s no wobble at all I’ve got a few after-market magazines here I’ll put the brands on the screen no game either I had to tap it up it gives a nice look to the gun I also had to tap the magazine, but harder it’s not easy to remove it but we can see that it feeds the M4 again, it fits but you’ll have to force it up a bit it seems that the magazine well is tight it is possible that these parts here are a bit too large this one doesn’t fit same here I don’t have any metal magazines though this one fits, still you’ll have to tap it it is hard to remove, it may need time to wear the mag well a bit let’s see how it sounds like I haven’t charged the battery so I’ll use a 7.
4V liPo battery 7.4V 2900 mAh Energy Airsoft battery nice autonomy be careful if you want to plug 11.1V batteries I’m not sure the gun will stand it do as you wish, but it s not because you’ve got a 5-year warranty that Cybergun will repair the gun whatever happened to it.
.. let’s go the motor isn’t the best one you’ll find but for a start it is not bad if you want to replace it, it’s up to you but before you decide if you want to purchase a high-torque or high-speed motor I’d wait a bit to read the complete review and discover what’s inside the gearbox first I wanted to say that I’m done with this gun, but as you might have noticed there’s another one behind me this is an Upsilon custom from AD1 web shop *jibber-jabber about the shop* Cybergun decided to invest money to keep the shop alive and now there’s a brand new website if you don’t like Cybergun, they sell other brands in the shop of course! there’s a “custom” folder on which you can find these Upsilons they’re worth 315€ at the moment the handguard and the buffer tube have been painted this is nice as the KeyMod system, painting replicas is trendy it looks really sturdy, there’s a thick layer of varnish it may be difficult to move the small rails and adjusting the stock is really hard I’ve mounted a few accessories to show you how it looks I moved one of the rails a bit farther to the back and I still can use the iron sights if I run out of battery it is really cool to have the choice between black and red versions out of the box it seems to be a BB-gun which is worth its price but as usual my final thoughts will be published on the blog the box is well filled no wobble on those two guns here if the internals are as good as the externals, it should be nice I don’t know from which factory they come is that Dboys, is that Cyma? Cybergun works with many factories you’ll probably have more clues once I’ve stripped the gun see you soon in the Lair xoxo
